Dorothy Emogene (Schumacher) Mueller, 94, of rural Corona, SD, died peacefully on April 21, 2020, surrounded by family at the Ortonville Area Hospital in Ortonville, MN.

Memorial services will be postponed until a time when family and friends can gather safely to say our good-byes and celebrate the life of a beautiful child of God.

Dorothy will be remembered as a woman of strong faith who loved family and for her commitment to serving others. She made the world grow and bloom around her, and we all have fond memories of shared time tilling, planting, tending, and harvesting. Significant occasions for family and friends were made more special by her creations of cakes decorated with care. Her quiet grace was marked with humor that pointed to a well of kindness. When the family gathered, she was always ready to play cards, and if rarely the other team won, likely as not, she let you win!

Dorothy is survived by her five sons: Gene (Nancy) Mueller of Bethany, IL; Lyle Mueller of Mahtomedi, MN; Brian (Eileen) Mueller of Altoona, WI; Don Mueller of Lakeville, MN; Neil (Shawnthea Monroe) Mueller of East Lansing, MI; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving and caring sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, especially Phyllis Lieb who was steadfast in supporting her aunt’s desire to stay on the home-place. What a great gift!

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Eldor Mueller; parents: Otto and Anna Schumacher; siblings: Ester Schumacher, Lester Schumacher, Lillian Tietz, Irma May, and Alvin Schumacher.

Memorials are preferred to the Orphan Grain Train or Lutheran Hour Ministries.
