Over 40 area youth participated in the biennial bike rodeo and 30 youth entered the coloring contest. A daily video served as a guide for bike safety. The week concluded with a Facebook live presentation by William Karels, the Grant County and state 4-H ambassador.

Riley Krause and Brytten Schmieg each won a new bike during the 2020 4-H Bike Rodeo held online from May 18-22. The bicycles were donated by United Hardware in Milbank.

Coloring contest winners were rewarded with Ol’ Mill Bucks and a new bike reflector. They included:
Kindergarten – Charlie Laskowske

First Grade – Hadley Allen

Second Grade – Sophia Bass

Third Grade – Brady Allen

Fourth Grade – Peyton Sumner

Fifth Grade – Thomas Bass

Sponsors for the event included: United Hardware, Milbank Police Department, Corey Hooth, Milbank Area Hospital Avera & Avera Medical Group, Eliza Loeschke, Street Graphex, South Dakota Emergency Medical Services for Children, Building Rural Communities Safety Grant, Jon Kampen, and the Grant County 4-H Office.

Donations have also provided free helmets for all area youth. Contact the Grant County 4-H Office at the Grant County Courthouse to acquire a helmet.
