The Whetstone Valley Rodeo Association swung into action to start the 2020 team penning season on Saturday, June 6. Thirty-six teams competed at the rodeo grounds south of Milbank.
Louie Minder, Marsha Wieting, and Craig Magedanz captured first place. Second place went to the team of Preston McGee, Randy Schuchard, and Brian Anderson. Tom Graham, Kelly Peterson, and Casey Yamaura landed in third. The fourth place team included Blair Wittnebel, Monte Rosen, and Donald Peterson.
Twenty-two teams participated in the sorting event. Bringing home the money, were Monte Rosen, Calvin Thompson, and Craig Magendanz in first; Steven Hills, Chuck Schuchard, and Brad Hanson in second; and Teresa Mead, Harold Fischer, and Chuck Schuchard in third.
Four teams competed in the novice division. Isaac Graham, Benett Graham, and Dave Hardy won the event.
