Students at St. Lawrence School in Milbank enjoyed two weeks of “summer camp” and ended by sharing God’s love with the residents at St. William’s Care Center. Kindergarteners through second graders presented an outdoor concert on Wednesday, June 10, and fourth graders and sixth graders serenaded them outside on Thursday, June 11.
“We might not have been able to hear each other as well outdoors, but the music still brought joy to residents who have not been able to welcome visitors for so many months,” said Elizabeth Schulte, music teacher at St. Lawrence School. Schulte and Laurie Hoffman, activities director at St. William’s, coordinated the concerts.
The young singers shared a message of peace and trust in God with the songs I’m Keeping My Eyes on Jesus and Trust in God for Today. They packed in a few campfire-style songs such as He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands, I Love The Mountains and You Are My Sunshine. And to keep the residents focused on summer, they threw in the classic baseball tune Take Me Out to the Ballgame and added their Covid19 version called Take Me Out of My House, Please.
