Milbank Teeners vs. Clark-Willow Lake

Isaac Schulte wowed the crowd with a walk-off grand slam to end the game Tuesday, June 23, in the Milbank VFW 16U Teener’s home opener at Pribyl Park. Milbank ended the game early by invoking the 10-run rule and downing Clark-Willow Lake 15-5.

Schulte wasted no opportunities at the plate. He drove in six runs on two hits, including two runs on a single in the fourth and the grand slam in the sixth.

Milbank grabbed the early lead with two runs in the first. They scored on a double by Sage Locke and a single by Justus Osborn. The Teeners tallied five runs in the fourth: Schulte’s two runs, Osborn’s double to score one run, and Steve Ash’s single to bring home one. Milbank plated seven runs in the sixth with an onslaught of RBIs led by Cole Swenson, Mike Karges, and Schulte.

The Teeners notched 15 runs on 17 hits. Karges, Aiden Rabe, Schulte, Swenson, Osborn, and Ash all had multiple hits for Milbank. Karges led the team with four hits in five at-bats. Karges went five and two-thirds innings to collect the win for Milbank. He allowed eight hits and four runs and struck out six batters.

Milbank Legion Post 9 vs. Clark-Willow Lake Legion

In the second game of the night, Milbank Legion Post 9 downed Clark Legion 19-9. The Legion team also played a short game due to the 10 – run rule.

Milbank Post 9 started out with four runs in the opening inning. They added three runs in the second before breaking the game wide open with nine runs in the third. Brodie Holtquist, Kellen Hoeke, Parker Schell, Kaden Krause, and Kacen Huber each drove in runs during the inning.

Post 9 scored its 19 runs on 14 hits. Schell, Krause, Holtquist, Huber, and Hoeke each belted out multiple hits for Milbank. Schell went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Milbank in hits. Krause walked three times. He also had two stolen two bases to add to the team’s total of eight in the contest.

Huber got the start for Post 9 on the mound. He allowed eight hits and nine runs over four innings. He struck out five.
