Milbank Legion and Teeners Split Wins with Lake Norden

The Milbank Post 9 Legion and the Milbank VFW 16U Teener baseball teams split wins with Lake Norden on Thursday, June 25, at the Milbank baseball field at Pribyl Park. Post 9 suffered a 1-0 loss. The VFW 16U team ended the game early with a 13-3 victory.
Milbank VFW 16U Teeners – 13 vs. Lake Norden – 3
Lake Norden found home plate first and scored two runs in the opening inning. Milbank added one run initially, but plated three more in the second inning to take the lead at 4-2. In the second, Cole Swenson lined out, driving in one run. Merik Junker singled on a 1-1 count and also scored one. Kaden Krause doubled on the first pitch of his at-bat to score one run. Milbank added three more runs in the third and fourth innings, and brought six players to home plate in the fifth.
Milbank’s firepower was led by Swenson, Mike Karges, Aiden Rabe, Justus Osborn, and Karson Weber, all who drove in runs that inning. Milbank scored its 13 runs on 15 hits. Osborn, Weber, Karges, and Junker all had multiple hits for the Teener team. Weber and Osborn each collected three hits. Krause was on the pitcher’s mound for Milbank. He went four innings, allowed two runs on five hits and struck out five batters. Osborn came in on relief and gave up one run on one hit. He sat down two batters.

Post 9 fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 1-0 loss to Lake Norden. Lake Norden scored one run in the opening inning and after that the game remained scoreless.
Pitching was strong on both sides. Lake Norden struck out seven hitters; Post 9 sat down four. Brodie Holtquist toed the rubber for Milbank. He went the distance and allowed eight hits and one run. He struck out four and walked zero. Kellen Hoeke, Brady Femling, and Kaden Krause each collected one hit.
