The Milbank Bulldog boys golf team finished the Hub City Invitational in Aberdeen with a team score of 393, good for an eighth place finish.

“I am happy to see us heading in the right direction,” stated head coach Mark Keeton. “There are still some things that we need to improve on with our short game. If we can tidy up that area of our game, we could see a big drop in scores. I am very please we are able to keep our team score under 400 on a state tournament-style course.”

The event on Tuesday, September 1, took place at the Lee Park Golf Course. Watertown won the event with a 290. Pierre took second with a 331. Aberdeen Roncalli was third with a 337. Rounding out the team scores were Aberdeen Central, 343; Huron, 346; Sisseton, 360; Groton, 384; Redfield, 395; Aberdeen Central JV, 450; Aberdeen Roncalli JV, 443. Tisopa Zina and Mobridge-Pollock did not field complete teams.

Jake Trevett led the Dawgs with a 14th place finish. He shot an 83 on the day. Logan Meyer followed with a 97 while Jonathan DeBoer shot an even 100. Other players for Milbank were Owen Fischer, 113; Eric Van Sambeek, 117, and Christian Peery, 122. Jake Olson of Watertown won the meet with a 69. Kaden Rylance was the runner-up with a 71, and Micah Dohrer of Roncalli was just behind that with a 72.
