Last Food Giveaway of 2020 Set for Wednesday, October 7

The Grant County Christian Service Council (GCCSC) is coordinating with Feeding South Dakota to facilitate a food giveaway on Wednesday, October 7. This is the last food giveaway scheduled in Milbank in 2020. The giveaway will be held in the parking lot of the Grant County 4-H Fairgrounds from 4-5 p.m. Anyone in need is welcome to receive food; there are no income requirements.

The giveaway is a drive-thru only event.  The food will be boxed and ready to go courtesy of Feeding South Dakota and will include fresh and frozen food and dry goods. Brenda Maass, a member of GCCSC and co-coordinator of the giveaway, reminds people, “There will be a limit of one set of boxes per family and no more than two sets of boxes per vehicle. If you need to pick up food for more than yourself and one other family, you are more than welcome to do that. However, you will need to pick up the two sets of boxes, exit the parking lot, and then go to the back of the line again to receive another set.”Upon arrival, enter the fairgrounds parking lot and wait for traffic flow directions. Don’t forget to clear a space in your vehicle. Open your trunk or tailgate once you are in line. Volunteers will place the boxes in your vehicle.  According to Maass, preparing a space before you get your vehicle in line, increases the flow of traffic and reduces the time it takes for everyone to get their food.

Physically unable to attend? Call the ICAP office at 605.432.6571 prior to Wednesday to make arrangements to have your boxes delivered.  “Donations to the Christian Service Council are always welcome,” Maass says. “Especially in this time of greater need!”  “The majority of our funding comes from donations to our local Thrift Store,” Maass says, “but donations from churches, businesses, and generous individuals ensure that we have the resources to serve our community.” Mail your check to the Grant County Christian Service Council at 210 East Fifth Avenue in Milbank, South Dakota.
