A mural was installed in the hallway at Milbank Elementary School. The mural is a huge puzzle, which consists of pieces created by nearly all the elementary students and many of the staff members.

“The individual pieces are unique, but the compilation of all of them together is even better,” said art teacher Jess Hanson. According to Hanson, people had suggested hanging the kids’ artwork near the gym so they could view it when they attended events.  “I thought doing something that could stay up and also showcase many of our students’ talents at one time was a better idea, hence the puzzle mural,” Hanson said.

The students began designing their puzzle pieces in mid-September using paper, markers, crayons, colored pencils, beads, and glue. Staff members were also invited to create a piece.

“Staff tell me every time they walk by something new catches their eye,” Hanson said.  “You could sit and look at it for a long time and never soak it all in.”
