Lady Bulldogs Defeated by Cossacks

The Milbank Lady Bulldogs traveled to Volga Saturday, October 24, and battled the Sioux Valley Cossacks in high school volleyball action. Milbank fell 3-0 and dropped to 1-13 on the season.

Milbank trailed 8-13 and 10-18, but the Lady Bulldogs came stomping back to pull to within two points at 20-22. Cossack errors, kills by Casside Seezs and Siri Bien, a serving ace by Hallie Schulte, and blocks by Bien and Rachel Schulte sparked Milbank’s run. Kills by Bien and R. Schulte and another Sioux Valley error pushed Milbank ahead at 23-22. The Lady Bulldogs then committed three unforced errors to give the Cossacks the 23-25 win.
But, Sioux Valley had taken the wind out of Milbank’s sails. The Lady Bulldogs continued to struggle and lost 15-25 in the second set. Errors again plagued the Lady Bulldogs in the third stanza, and they could not recover. Milbank fell 11-25.

Rachel Schulte and Seezs led the Lady Bulldog attack with five kills each. R. Schulte went 13-14 hitting, 6-7 setting with two assists, one dig, and one block. Seezs recorded 8-12 hitting, 4-4 serving with one ace, and two digs. Bien followed with four kills on 10-14 hitting and 6-9 serving. Madi Thue tallied three kills on 5-9 hitting, 6-7 serving, 3-4 setting, and eight digs.

H. Schulte led the Milbank defense with 10 digs. She went 11-12 serving with one ace and was 3-3 setting with two assists. Averie Engebretson had one kill on 7-8 hitting, 10 assists on 29-29 setting, 7-7 serving, and seven digs.
