Stanley Boyd Adolphson, age 92, of Ortonville, MN, died on October 28, 2020, at Fairway View Neighborhood.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 2, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Abiding Faith Free Lutheran Church in Ortonville. A graveside service will follow, starting at 1:00 p.m. at Mound Cemetery in Ortonville. Reverend Richard Larson will officiate.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to gather for visitations and services. The use of face masks by attendees is required, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. For those who prefer or require continued precautions, webcasting and/or livestreaming will be viewable on this website.

Stanley Boyd Adolphson was born on October 21, 1928, in Clinton, MN. He was the son of Colonel David and Louise (Huebner) Adolphson. He grew up in the Clinton area. After 8th grade, he helped his dad with cement work. He joined the Navy in 1946 and worked in the boiler room on the ships. On September 10, 1948, he was united in marriage with Marlys Witte. They were blessed with two daughters: Jackie and Pat.

After his honorable discharge, he worked as an electrician for the City of Ortonville (Superintendent of Water and Light) and the City of Big Stone. He also worked with Minnesota Well Drillers. He liked to help others fix and repair things. One could frequently find him working in his garage. After his retirement, he helped on Danielson’s farm for many years.

Stanley was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and a member of the Ortonville Shriners. He was a founding member of Abiding Faith Free Lutheran Church and served on various church councils. He was a very funny man who liked telling humorous stories. He enjoyed various types of hunting, sometimes with a bow, a shotgun, or even a muzzle loader. In the summer, he enjoyed spending time at his and Marlys’s cabin on Big Stone Lake. He loved water sports, especially waterskiing, and would do tricks. He taught all his kids and grandkids to waterski. Stanley also enjoyed fishing.

Stanley is survived by his daughters: Jackie (David) Meyer of Big Stone City, SD; and Pat (Glen) Danielson of Ortonville, MN; five grandchildren: Marissa Meyer of Brandon, SD; Randy (Alyssa) Meyer of Markham, VA: Chad (Jenny) Danielson of Fargo, ND; Ryan (Julie) Danielson of Ortonville, MN; and Dana (John) Novak of Madison, MN; five great-grandchildren: Imogen Meyer, Amy (Jessica Lewis) Danielson, Drew (Sara) Danielson, Bethany Danielson, and Connor Danielson; three step-great-grandchildren: Bryan Novak, Johnathan Novak, and Caleb Novak; sister, Luane Huizenga of Ortonville, MN; brothers: Fred Adolphson of Rockford, IL; and Kenneth (Donna) Adolphson of Willmar, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Marlys; parents; brother, Everet Adolphson; and sister, Norma Connelly.
