Viola Zadow, age 98, of Milbank, SD,  passed away on November 11, 2020, at St. William’s Care Center in Milbank.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church.  Burial will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery. Father Gary DeRouchey will celebrate the Mass. Music will be provided by Bobbi Jo Meyer, organist, and the St. Lawrence Funeral Choir.  Casket bearers will be: Bradley Zadow, Scott Zadow, Roman Karels, Josh Zadow, Harley Helgeson, and Rod Torgerson.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to gather for visitations and services. The use of face masks by attendees is recommended. For those who prefer or require continued precautions, webcasting and/or livestreaming will be viewable at www.mundwilerfuneralhome.net.

Viola Bruner Zadow was born on March 3, 1922, in Grant County, SD.  She was the daughter of Clayton and Mary (Schmitt) Bruner.  Viola attended rural school and graduated from Milbank High School with the Class of 1939.

Viola was united in marriage with Carl Zadow on June 25, 1941, in Milbank.  They were blessed with a son, James.  Viola and Carl farmed together in Grant County until 1969.  They retired and settled in Milbank.  Carl passed away on July 7, 2002.

Viola was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. She cleaned several homes in Ortonville, MN.  She loved her outings to the casino. Viola enjoyed playing cards, especially Widow’s Whist, with her sister and brother-in-law.  She loved having coffee and visiting with her friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, James Zadow of Buffalo, MN; two grandsons: Bradley Zadow and Scott Zadow; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law: Shirley and Roman Karels of Ortonville, MN.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents: Clayton and Mary; her husband, Carl; brother, Harvey Bruner; sister, Evelyn Steltz; and nephews: Larry Steltz, and Mike Bruner.
