James Munro, age 58, of Sisseton, SD,  passed away on December 15, 2020, in Sisseton. Private family services will be held. James Allyn Munro... James Munro

James Munro, age 58, of Sisseton, SD,  passed away on December 15, 2020, in Sisseton.

Private family services will be held.

James Allyn Munro was born on January 29, 1962, in Milbank, SD. He was the son of Kenneth Munro Jr. and Adele (Tortenson) Munro. James was raised and grew up in Wilmot, SD.  He graduated from Wilmot High School with the Class of 1980.  In the fall of 1980, he began school at Lake Area Technical School for drafting. He graduated in 1982.

Throughout his life, James’s nickname by his family and friends was “Bubba”. He worked for Midland Atlas from 1982 until 1987. James worked his entire life at a variety of jobs; from a sewing factory, stocking shelves, assembling of power strip bars, telemarketing at call centers, cashiers, floor manager, store manager, and security at a casino.  He loved them all because he was able to meet so many people.  His last place of employment, working road construction for Bituminious Paving, was his favorite.

Bubba enjoyed all the men and women he worked with on the road; he especially enjoyed the challenge and the change of scenery throughout the job.  He loved to camp and working road construction meant he could live in his camper, which was a dream come true!  He traveled to North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Nebraska.  He loved seeing the different areas of the states while earning a paycheck each week.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Kathryn (Ronald) Thompson of Wilmot, SD; Julie (Marlo) Anderson of Wilmot, SD; Kenneth Munro III of Watertown, SD; Rose (Dana) Jones of Watertown, SD; Ruth Munro of Sisseton, SD; and John Munro of Wilmot, SD; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; an auntie and uncle; and his beloved dog, Buddy.

Bubba will truly be missed by his family and will always remain in their hearts.
