Scott Kuefler, age 57, of Big Stone City, SD, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Big Stone City, SD. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11: 00 a.m. at church on Thursday. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery outside of Big Stone City.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to gather for visitations and services. The use of face masks by attendees is recommended, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. Scott David Kuefler was born on July 22, 1963, in Ortonville, MN, to Edwin and Margaret (Schliesman) Kuefler. He grew up in the Big Stone City, SD, area and lived there for all his life. Scott was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville.

As a teenager, Scott worked at the Big Stone Cheese Factory. He later worked at United Hardware in Milbank and at Buzz’s Tavern in Big Stone City. Scott was a hard worker and was there to help anyone who needed it: He was everyone’s handyman. Scott enjoyed fishing, picking asparagus around the county, and was very good at helping people do things around their homes such as repairs and yardwork.

Scott is survived by his wife, Tammy; children: Kimberly (Kara) Valen, Bryan (Amanda) Kuefler, Dusten (Haley) Kuefler, and Brice Kuefler; step-children: Brandon (Brittany) Newman, Conrad Newman, and Donald Newman; nine grandchildren: Adalyne, Quentin, Jakobi, Xander, Kylee, Khloe, Cameron, Samantha, and Cole; mother, Margaret Kuefler; brother, Todd (Sharon) Kuefler; sister, Deanna (Todd) Larsen; nieces and nephews: Chase, Mariah, Brittany, and Jacob; along with many other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his son (in infancy), Kevin; father, Ed; sister, Donna; mother-in-law, Vale; and brother-in-law, Carl.
