The Milbank Bulldogs’ basketball team triumphed over the Florence-Henry Falcons on Friday, January 22, on the road. The final score was 67-55. The win improves Milbank’s season record to 4-6.

“The boys played their hearts out and had a lot of fun out there,” said head coach Logan Diede. “It showed from start to finish.  Each of them brought something special to the table.”

Milbank started out with solid play and held the advantage at 19-13 after one period. The Dawgs remained in the lead at 34-24 at the midway mark. In the third quarter, they extended their lead to 46-33, and held on for the victory.

Three players scored in double figures for Milbank. Mason Riley knocked down 16 points and made six rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Justus Osborn added another 15 points and three boards, one assist, and three steals. Carter Hartman posted 10 points and grabbed five rebounds and a steal.

Also adding to the scoring for the Bulldogs were Will Cummins with nine points and Bennett Schwenn with eight.  Garrett Mertens had four; Stevie Ash, three; and Kellen Hoeke and Aiden Foell, one apiece.

Milbank hit pay dirt on 21-of-46 shots from the field for 46 percent shooting. The Dawgs outmaneuvered the Falcons for  35 rebounds and 15 steals. They also recorded 11 assists and were charged with 19 turnovers.

Florence-Henry counted 34 percent of their shots from the field by connecting on 19-of-55 attempts. The Falcons ended the game with 36 rebounds, 10 assists, and 18 steals. They committed 19 turnovers.
