Junior Varsity Grapplers Take Fifth at Groton

Milbank junior varsity wrestlers traveled to the Groton Wrestling Invitational and finished fifth in the team standings. The tournament featured a mixture of varsity and junior varsity teams who battled it out in the spotlight.

“It’s a great chance for the younger guys to get some good experience,” stated Milbank’s head coach, Jeremy Tostenson. Milbank accrued 60 points.  Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington won the meet with 190 points. Clark-Willow Lake was second with 145.  Watertown JV placed third with 130 points. Just ahead of the Bulldogs in fourth place, was Groton Area with 83 points.

Rounding out the team scores were:  Ipswich/Leola/Bowdle, 58; Webster Area, 54; Warner/Northwestern, 53; Potter County, 29.5; Sioux Falls O’Gorman JV, 25; Viborg/Hurley, 20, and Britton-Hecla, 17.5.
Tate Schlueter led the Bulldogs with a first-place finish. Owen Fischer and Maddox Hanson took third place, and Joe French and Anthony St. Martin placed fourth.
