Lori Leddy, math and language arts instructor at Milbank Middle School, was selected as the 2021 Milbank School District Teacher of the Year by parents and staff. Lori’s family, fellow middle school teachers, and middle school students attended the surprise ceremony held in the MHS theater at the close of the school day today, February 22.
Lori graduated from Milbank High School in 1991. She attended Northern State University and graduated magna cum laude from Mount Marty College-Harmony Hill Branch in 1995. She served as a library aide at the Milbank Middle School and Koch Elementary from 1995-1997. In 1997, she became a middle school instructor.
According to Lori’s nominations, “She spends countless hours providing assistance to any student in need and goes above and beyond her regular eight-to-four school day by volunteering her time to 4-H, the cancer walk team, her church, and other community events.”
Milbank Middle School Principal Kris Evje commented, “She just does what she does for the students every day. She is very deserving.”
She now becomes eligible for the regional teacher of the year award and, if chosen, will be eligible for South Dakota’s teacher of the year award.
Lori is married to Wade Leddy. They have two daughters Rebecca (Harms) of Sioux Falls and Allison, a senior at MHS.
