Children at the Emanuel Lutheran Preschool had a great time celebrating P week. They made parrots, held a pizza and pajama party, and had a visit from a police officer.

Grant County Sheriff Deputy Jeremy Steffensen, whose son Lane attends the morning class at Emanuel Lutheran Preschool, talked to the youngsters about his job. According to head teacher, Karen Tilma, “Before Officer Steffensen arrived, the kids thought his job was just ‘arresting the bad guys’. After he left, they knew so much more. He explained how he helps to keep people safe, and he showed them the tools on his belt. Officer Steffensen told them, ‘You don’t take the gun out for anything.’ They also learned how his patrol car is a tool because he sometimes uses it to transport inmates to work, take them to medical appointments, or deliver them to Sioux Falls.”

During P Week the students were also delighted by a pirate ship created by their teacher’s aid, Nora Escudero.  They yelled “Aargh” a lot and added their imagination to sail the high seas.

Tilma says the staff and children are now looking forward to observing Holy Week. Each day is filled with special activities for both the three and four year olds.

Tilma also said she is grateful the school has not had to close down due to illness. “The parents have been great at keeping their kids home if they were sick.”

Emanuel Lutheran Preschool is currently taking enrollment for their fall 2021 classes. Don’t delay as availability is filling up fast. See our Emanuel Lutheran Preschool ad here on The Valley Express with a link to our website.
