MHS freshman Landon Novy led the Milbank youth wrestlers with a first-place finish at the 2021 South Dakota Wrestling Coaches Association State Wrestling Tournament held March 26-28 in Rapid City. Novy captured the state title in the Cadets 285 class.
Fifteen of the 16 state qualifiers from Milbank secured a top-eight finish at the state meet. In addition to Novy’s first-place finish, Brady Ericsson and Joe French each took second place; Isaac Folk, Lawson Novy, and Jesse Schneck each finished third; Jacob Johnson and Tate Schlueter both landed in fourth place; Kyra Tostenson, Liam Prasnicki, and Oliver Korth finished in fifth place; Cruz Prasnicki and Owen Fischer placed sixth; Andrew Folk took seventh; and Micah Tostenson finished in eighth place. Hunter Johnson also competed.
