Joan Agnes (Adelman) Krakow, formerly of  Rosen, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Melrose Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota at the age of 92.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on April 10, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Rosen, Minnesota.  Father Jack Nordick will officiate and Jen Wittnebel will serve as organist. Active casket bearers include grandsons Kurt Dagel, Daryl Dagel, Lorin Dagel, Steve Krakow, Jared Krakow and Luke Meyer. All of Joan’s other grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as honorary casket bearers. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. The ladies of St. Joseph’s Church will serve a luncheon following the funeral.

Joan was born November 6, 1928 at the Ortonville, Minnesota hospital to Bernard and Mary (Millerbernd) Adelman. She graduated high school in Bellingham, Minnesota and had the privilege of attending the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota for two years. She was united in marriage to Manfred (Butch) Krakow on October 5, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rosen, Minnesota. After marriage, Butch and Joan lived and ranched near South Shore, South Dakota until 1974 when they moved to the Adelman farm south of Rosen.  Butch and Joan were blessed with nine children.  During her life, Joan’s faith in God meant everything to her.  She was active both in St. Joseph’s parish in Waverly, South Dakota and later in St. Joseph’s parish in Rosen, Minnesota. Joan also especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  They all enjoyed many activities and countless, wonderful meals together that Joan had prepared. Joan enjoyed assisting Butch on the farm, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, and helping her children with school, church and 4-H activities.  In the late 80’s and 90’s, Joan also was pleased to work as an administrative assistant at the Pioneer Public Television station in Appleton, Minnesota where she became proficient on the computer as part of her job duties.   For years, she sent daily email updates to her family members.  Joan so appreciated receiving phone calls, emails, cards and letters from her family, friends and relatives over her lifetime.  Joan also loved all the get-togethers with her Adelman cousins, whether for breakfast outings, the trip to Texas to visit Brother Silverius, or other events, and the many good times she experienced playing cards with friends and relatives.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Butch, in 2005, an infant daughter Marie, a sister, Betty Claussen of Denver, Colorado in 2020, and her parents. Joan is survived by her children: Kathleen (Kenneth) Dagel of Watertown, SD; Michael (Collette) Krakow of LaBolt, SD; Mary Krakow of Minneapolis, MN; Jane (Randy) Ecklund of Bloomington, MN; Teresa (Michael) Schmieg of Bloomington, MN; Kevin (Cindy) Krakow of Strandburg, SD; Rita (Marvin) Meyer of Meire Grove, MN; Richard (Bethany) Krakow of Anoka, MN; 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mildred Roggenbuck of San Diego, CA, and Marian Halbmaier of Irving, TX.
