A benefit for Rayonna Johnson, a sophomore at Ortonville High School will be held Friday, April 16, from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Big Stone Legion. Rayonna, the daughter of Heather Tschida and Timothy Burch, was diagnosed with a rare ovarian immature teratoma germ cell cancer and is undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Marcie Vangsness, coordinator of the benefit,  says the free will meal will include pork sandwiches, pasta salads, chips, and lemonade. Community members and the Ortonville Girls’ Basketball Team are hosting the bake sale. Items will also be for sale in the silent auction.

Vangsness says, “Rayonna, will celebrate her 16th birthday next week and is such a sweet and smart girl. She loves to read and can whip through a 1000-page book in no time.”

Rayonna attended Big Stone Elementary School. At Ortonville High School, she is active in track and football and basketball cheerleading.
Proceeds from the benefit will go to Rayonna’s family for bills, gas, travel, and medical expenses.
