Milbank suffered a 2-5 loss in a tennis duel against Yellow Medicine East of Granite Falls, Minnesota.  The teams met on Thursday, April 15, at Cantine Courts in Milbank.

“Every match was competitive, and the team score could have gone either way for all the varsity matches,” said Jade Miller, head coach for MHS. “The kids are learning more and more about how to improve their tennis play and it is starting to show.”

Junior Leyton Raffety won his singles match. He downed Austin Canatsey, 7-5, 6-0. The No. 2 doubles pair of Will Snaza and Alonso De Salazar also claimed a victory, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3), in their match against Brouwen/Syring.  Max Schuelke added a win for the junior varsity team.

Complete results from the Yellow Medicine East match:
Singles: 1. Mason Riley fell to Ean Clarke, 6-4, 6-1; 2. Benett Street was defeated by Tyler Syring, 6-3, 6-4; 3. Joe Schulte lost to Jackson Torgerson, 6-3, 6-4; 4. Leyton Raffety defeated Austin Canatsey, 7-5, 6-0.

Doubles: 1. Gregory Grabow/Isaac Perez fell to Derrick Lien/Isaac Olevson, 7-6, 6-2 (7-4); 2. Will Snaza/Alonso De Salazar defeated Ryan Browen/Syring, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3); 3. Daniel Shelstad/Zander Boswell lost to Mason Rhode/Gage Corner, 6-3, 6-4. 

Junior Varsity: Max Schuelke defeated Chase Corner, 8-5; Charles Whitesitt/Max Schuelke fell to Karter Canatsey/Mason Loupke, 8-6.
