The Lady Bulldogs and their head coach, Mark Keeton, are back at it. Keeton says, “We just had our first practice in two years!” Plus, the team’s first meet of the season was canceled last week due to bad weather. Finally, on Thursday, April 29, the team will hit the greens to take on the Lady Pheasants at Redfield.

The team could also be considered a little green. Keeton says, “We have a lot of new faces.” There are no seniors on the team this year, and junior Marion Mischel is the lone returning letter winner. Many of the girls on the 2019 team had played varsity for five or six years.

“With all the new faces,” Keeton says, “we need to see where we’re at and focus on improving each week.” He says it was fortunate they could start practice outside right away this spring to speed up that process. And he says, “We look forward to a long and successful season.”

Newcomers on the Lady Bulldogs roster include: junior Ella Kasuske; freshmen Camila Monroy, Shaylee Schuchard, Lydia Street, Mia Van Lith, and Jaclyn Wiik; and seventh grader Sophia Homrighausen.

Keeton says the Covid rule of not exchanging score cards at meets will continue to be enforced this spring. “We will have to follow the rules of each home course. That will include whether or not you can pull the pin and possibly no rakes in the bunkers. Most courses appear to be running as normal, however.”
