Grant County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service (NWS) of Aberdeen held a virtual Skywarn weather spotter class at the Milbank Fire Hall on Thursday, April 29. The class was open to any residents interested in the process.

According to Kevin Schuelke, head of Grant County Emergency Management, the distance and elevation difference between Aberdeen and Milbank make weather spotters in our area important.

Individuals who take this class are acknowledged as weather spotters by the weather service and can report information to the NWS.  Schuelke says firefighters and members of law enforcement also play a key role in assisting with weather spotting.
Schuelke also reminds everyone, “Keep in mind when severe weather is approaching, take personal responsibility and act accordingly.”
