Relay Team Breaks MHS School Record From 1963

The MHS boys 1,600-meter sprint medley relay team, consisting of Dustin Gertsema, Sawyer Gauer, Bennett Schwenn, and Nick Batchelor, broke a school record with a time of 3:36.67 at the Howard Wood Relays in Sioux Falls on April 30 and May 1. The previous record, set in 1963, was broken by nearly two seconds.

Schwenn also won the boys triple jump with a leap of 45’ 6.5” to defend his championship title from two years ago —the last time the meet took place.
Greta Snaza broke her own school record in the pole vault competition with a vault of 10’0”. Ashlyn Batchelor moved up to No. 2 on the honor roll in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:38.36. She also broke her own seventh-grade record in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:28.79.

The girls’ 800-meter relay team of Laney Forrette, Siera Wenzl, Greta Snaza, and Madi Thue cracked the top-10 honor roll with a time of 1:50.47. Nick Batchelor moved up the honor roll to No. 4 in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 9:59.38 and to No. 4 in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:33.87. Ryker Trevett also earned a spot on the MHS honor roll in the boys shot put. He checked in at  No. 7 on the list with a throw of 51’ 1.75”.
