The Milbank Firechiefs traveled to Volga on Sunday, May 30, and split contests with the Cormorants. The Firechiefs now sit with a 4-1 record.
In the opening game, Milbank took the lead late and defeated Volga 5-4. The game was tied at four with the Firechiefs batting in the top of the eighth when Taylor Boerger grounded out to score one run.

Milbank got things started in the first inning when Justin Larson drew a walk to score a run. Volga evened things up at four in the bottom of the fourth inning. An error scored one run for the Cormorants.
Dom Boerger pitched the Milbank Firechiefs to victory. The southpaw surrendered zero runs on zero hits in three innings. He struck out seven and walked zero. Taylor Boerger started the game for Milbank. He
allowed six hits and four runs in five innings. He struck out four.
Tristan Hall went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Firechiefs. Jacob Jackson, Dom Boerger, Lance Frogner, and Ronnie Krause each added a hit to Milbank’s six-hit victory.

In the second game, Milbank led 4-1 after two innings, but could not hold on for the win. They fell 7-4. Milbank captured the lead in the second inning when Brady Krause homered on a 3-1 count to score three runs. In the top of the third, Volga tied things up at four and took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. The Firechiefs put up four runs in the second inning. Travis Lester and B. Krause each had RBIs in the big inning.

Justin Larson took the loss for Milbank. He lasted seven innings, allowing ten hits and seven runs. He struck out nine batters. Mitch Quade went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Milbank Firechiefs in hits. Dom Boerger and B. Krause had one hit each in Milbank’s four-hit game.
