Two Lady Bulldogs punched their tickets to South Dakota’s 2021 State Class A Girls Golf Tournament. Marion Mischel and Shaylee Schuchard made the cut with exceptional performances at the Region 1A meet in Sisseton on Friday, May 28. Both golfers advance to the state tournament at the Spearfish Canyon Country Club in Spearfish on Monday and Tuesday, June 7-8.

“Regions are tough. You only have one shot to make the state tournament and for four out of the five girls, this was their first time being in this situation,” said Milbank’s head coach, Mark Keeton. “We have a young team, and this experience will serve them well in the future. I was very proud of how well the girls handled themselves on and off the course. Sisseton is a tough nine-hole course that can jump up and bite you in many ways.”

The Region 1A meet was postponed on Thursday due to inclement weather and rescheduled for Friday. “This was the right call as Friday had much more favorable conditions,” added Keeton.

The top 22 scorers advanced to the state meet. Marion Mischel placed 12th with a score of 110. Shaylee Schuchard landed in 14th place with a 114. Camila Monray came in just short at 24th place with a 121.  Ella Kasuske carded a 142, and Jaclyn Wiik came in at 37th with a score of 157.
