Lady Bulldogs Marion Mischel and Shaylee Schuchard competed in the Class A state high school girls’ golf tournament in Spearfish on June 7. Mischel won a top-25 medal. She carded a 98 and a 95 to tie for 21st place. Schuchard, in her first year of golfing for MHS, shot a 122 and a 115 to tie for 67th place.
“Spearfish Canyon Country Club is a physically demanding course and to walk it two days in a row in 90 plus-degree temperatures to play every shot is not easy,” said Mark Keeton, coach for the Milbank team.
Maiya Muller of Beresford won the state championship title. She recorded a 75 and 80 for just 11 over par. Kelsey Heath of Sisseton came in second; Sydney Tims of Sioux Falls Christian was third.
Sioux Falls Christian took home the team title. Sisseton came in second, and Winner was third.
Coach Keeton added, “This was a rebuilding year and for us to have two solid performances at the state meet has me excited for next year.”
