The Milbank American Legion Post 9 baseball team swept the Big Stone City American Legion Post 229 team on Thursday, June 10.  The final scores from the double header were 7-4 and 5-2.  Post 9 remains undefeated with a season record of 7-0. 

In the first game, Milbank’s offense started rolling in the bottom of the opening inning with three consecutive singles from Merik Junker, Kellen Hoeke, and Cole Swenson. Junker would score on Swenson’s single and Hoeke would later score on a sacrifice fly from Micah Dietmeier. 
Big Stone City struck back with two runs of their own in the top of the second, but Milbank rallied in the bottom of the fourth and scored five runs to take back the lead. 

Post 9’s biggest inning started when Stevie Ash, Parker Schell, and Kaden Krause drew three walks to load the bases. Junker knocked in two of them with a line-drive single to center which scored Ash and Schell.  Hoeke and Swenson drew walks to load the bases again, but this time it was Dietmeier who picked up RBIs by knocking in two more runs with a double to center field. Big Stone City scored one run in both the sixth and seventh inning, but it wasn’t enough to defeat Post 9. 

Post 9’s offense was led by Hoeke and Junker. They had three hits apiece. Mikey Karges earned the win on the mound after pitching 6 1/3 innings. He struck out four batters. 

In the second game, Milbank started off hot. They scored five runs in the first inning but the scoring stopped as quickly as it had started. 
Milbank’s offense was led by singles from Hoeke and Swenson and a double from Schell. Schell’s double scored three runs. 
Dietmeier earned the win on the mound. He pitched four innings, allowed two runs, and struck out seven batters along the way.
