Betty Jane Saeger, age 92, of Ortonville, MN, died on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Fairway View Neighborhoods in Ortonville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be one-hour prior at the church in Ortonville. Burial will be at Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.

Betty Jane Hogan was born on December 31, 1928, on the family farm near Summit, SD, to Frank and Pearl (Latham) Hogan. She grew up and attended rural schools in Grant County. She eventually moved to Milbank, SD, and then Ortonville, MN. While living in Ortonville, she met Thomas Saeger at a local café. Betty and Tom were married on June 27, 1948, at the Methodist Church in Ortonville. They were married for 48 years and raised their six children in Ortonville.

Betty sold Christmas trees when her children were young. She worked as a clerk in retail and hospitality and worked the cooker at the Big Stone Canning Factory. She also worked for National Tea Grocery Store for many years.

Betty was baptized into the Methodist church and was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville where she served on the Altar Guild.

Betty sewed clothing for all her children as they were growing up and was a Cub Scout pack leader. Betty was a great cook and baker, always providing fresh, homemade buns for her family on Sundays. She liked to crochet and refinish furniture. Most of all, Betty loved being with her grandchildren and playing cards.

Betty is survived by her children: Larry Saeger of Minneapolis, MN; Greg (Karen) Saeger of Sioux Falls, SD; Karen (Dean) Strand of Ortonville, MN; Jeff (Sharon) Saeger of Brooklyn Center, MN; Thomas (Kerri) Saeger of Ortonville, MN; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters: Shirley Busk, Vonnie Hoeke, and Barb Gerdes; and brothers: Darwin Hogan, Michael Hogan, and Donald Hogan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom in 1996; daughter, Julie Saeger in 1991; brothers: Jim and Sonny Hogan; and sister, Kay Voeltz.
