The American Legion Post 9 baseball team split games in their double header against Castlewood Post 250 on June 14. Milbank was defeated in the first game 4-3 and won the second game 22-15. Post 9’s season record now sits at 7-1. 

In game one, Post 9 didn’t waste any time. In the top of the first inning, Merik Junker singled to center to get the offense started, and Cole Swenson followed with a double. Isaac Schulte scored both base runners with an RBI single to centerfield.

Milbank added another run in the top of the second to bring the score to 3-0, but Castlewood answered with two of their own. Milbank scored again in the top of the third. Schulte was hit by a pitch and already on base when Justus Osborn doubled on a fly ball to centerfield to send him home.  

Post 9’s offense then stalled, and Milbank allowed Castlewood to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the game.
Merik Junker and Micah Dietmeier led the offense for Milbank. They put up two hits each. 

In the second game, Milbank’s bats were magic. Post 9 scored 22 runs, including 14 in the top of the seventh inning.  

Stevie Ash led Milbank’s offense. He recorded four hits and brought in three runs. Kellen Hoeke recorded three hits and tallied four RBIs to help Post 9 claim their bounce-back win. 
Mikey Karges earned the win on the mound. He pitched 2 2/3 innings and struck out seven batters.
