VFW Teeners Struggle Against Smittys

On Tuesday, June 15, the Milbank VFW Junior Teeners were defeated by the Aberdeen Smittys in a double header. The Junior Teeners were defeated 21-2 in the first game and 17-3 in the second. 

In game one, Milbank hung around until late in the sixth inning when Aberdeen’s bats took off. The Smittys scored 11 runs in the top of the sixth which proved to be enough to defeat the Junior Teeners.
Milbank’s two runs came when Joe Schulte hit an RBI single to left field to score Josh Pederson and then a passed ball provided an opening for Keegin Carlin to steal home. 
Milbank’s offense was led by Pederson. He had three hits. Caleb Pillatzki, Joe Schulte, and Carlin each added two hits. 

In game two, the locals fell behind early. They gave up 10 runs in the first two innings, but earned a couple back in the bottom of the fourth. Daniel Shelstad, Carter Gloe, and Lucas DeBoer scored the three runs for Milbank.
