Delores Mary (Sullivan) Miller was born on February 2, 1932, in Graceville, MN, to Vincent and Charlotte (Wiley) Sullivan. She attended district 51 one room schoolhouse near Barry, MN, and went on to graduate from St. Mary’s Academy with the Class of 1950.

Her faith guided her throughout her journey in life. In her younger days, Delores was active in 4-H, breadmaking, and entering exhibits in the state fair with Jean Buller. She enjoyed roller skating, music, and playing piano. Delores was a homemaker and raised 10 children. When the children were older, she became involved in the family business. Delores worked as a restaurant owner/hostess and gave all her guests a personal touch to their experience. She also worked as a realtor in the Alexandria area and wrote a column, “Journey of the Soul”, for the local paper, Northern Star. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN, and was actively involved in teaching religion classes. Later in life, she lived in Florida for one year and then moved to Arkansas to be close to maternal family members. While there, she volunteered doing mother-to-mother ministry. This was very important to her, and she loved being a pillar of support in her community. Most recently, she moved to Detroit Lakes and lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Kevin Corbett and Fester, the family dog. She became a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and enjoyed watching a live stream of Sunday Mass. Delores enjoyed reading, bird watching, flowers, doing puzzles, cooking, canning playing bridge and rarely missed an episode of “Wheel of Fortune”.

Known for her laughter and quick wit, Delores will be dearly missed by her family. She adored her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. She especially looked forward to family gatherings and the time she was able to spend with them. She was a person of integrity, compassion, strength and always there to listen and support others.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Barb (Rick) Beyer of Alexandria, MN; Larry Carlson of Wheaton, MN; Cathy Gronfield of Alexandria, MN; Mary Jo Stueve of Graceville, MN; Sally (Kevin) Corbett of Detroit Lakes, MN; Carol (Chuck) Bauer of Graceville, MN; and Bonnie Carlson (Steve Maas) of Clinton, MN; 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild; stepson, Joel Miller of West Virginia; stepdaughter, Marsha Danner of Indiana; sister, Mary Ellen Grossman; sister-in-law, Lois Sullivan; along with countless relatives and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marshall Miller; sons: Dale, Mark, and Bruce Carlson; brothers: Jackie, Robert, and Richard Sullivan; and former husband, Martin “Punk” Carlson.
