Gladys Paulson, age 78, of Milbank, SD, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Milbank Area Hospital – Avera Health.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wilmot. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church and will continue at the church Friday afternoon, one hour prior to the service. Gladys Maxine (Weeden) Paulson was born on New Year’s Day of 1943 in Ortonville, MN, to Stanley and Helen (Hecht) Weeden. She was baptized on February 1, 1943, and her faith confirmed on May 25, 1958. Gladys attended rural school and graduated from Wilmot High School.

Taking her many places throughout the Midwest, Gladys’s career was very important to her. She lived in Wilmot, SD, Milbank, SD, Montevideo, MN, Watertown, SD, Sibley, IA, Grand Junction, CO, and finally back to Milbank. On April 17, 1971, Gladys was united in marriage with John C. Paulson.

Together, John and Gladys enjoyed camping, being outdoors, and they both had a passion for photography. In Gladys’s later years, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, and singing in the church choir. She loved to make soups and her favorite dish, “chicken and noodles”. Gladys cherished the time she spent with her nieces and nephews and her great-nieces and nephews. Gladys loved to keep busy. She often would say “What’s the Plan?”. She always liked having a plan. Her church was very important and her strong faith and trust in our Lord and Savior was very evident to anyone near her. One very favorite activity Gladys took great pride in was working with the Orphan Grain Train.

Left to cherish her memory are her sisters: Eileen (John) Schamber of Milbank, SD; and Marilyn (Robert) Rethke of Milbank, SD; sisters-in-law: Mary Weeden of Milbank, SD; and Edna Angerhofer of Milbank, SD; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1997; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and John Reese; and brother, Glenn Weeden.
