The Milbank Post 9 Legion baseball team defeated the Legion team from Webster by a score of 15-7 on Wednesday, July 7. Milbank tallied a run in the top of the first when Merik Junker singled to right field and Kellen Hoeke followed with a double to score Junker.
Milbank scored again in the top of the second. Micah Sire and Sammy Femling started things off by getting hit by pitches. With runners at first and second, Junker drew a walk to load the bases. Hoeke obliged with a single to left to bring in Sire. Cole Swenson followed suit and drove in Femling with a single to right field.
With the bases still loaded, Schulte and Karges both drew walks to increase Milbank’s lead to 5-2. Sire singled to right to bring Swenson and Schulte home and the score to 7-2.
Milbank scored another run in the top of the fifth. Junker singled to left and scored when Hoeke singled to right.
Milbank’s offense continued to churn out runs. In the top of the sixth, Parker Schell drew a walk and Stevie Ash hit a single. Kaden Krause scored Ash with an infield single. Milbank added two more runs in the top of the seventh when Schell doubled to right field to score Swenson and Schulte. Swenson scored two when he singled to right to bring in Ash and Junker. Milbank easily defeated Webster 15-7.
Milbank’s offense was led by Hoeke who recorded four hits and three RBIs. Junker and Swenson both recorded two hits. Swenson also added three RBIs. Krause earned the win on the mound. He pitched three innings, allowed only one hit, and struck out seven batters.
