The Milbank Area Lions Swim Team hosted a 12 & Under meet on Tuesday, July 6. Coach Jodi Street said, “Thirty four of our younger Sea Lions took to the blocks to compete. It was great to see so many of our younger kids participate at our home facility and have families and community members come out to support these swimmers. We had a great crowd!”

Zayda Townsend and Stella Pulling each earned Swimmer of the Meet awards.

Zayda, who is in her first season of swimming, showed significant time cuts in all of her freestyle and backstroke events, and she added a new stroke — the 50-meter breaststroke. Street said, “Zayda works very hard in practice on all of her drills to improve her technique each day.”

Stella is also a first year swimmer. She placed in the top six in all of her events, cut time in four events, and placed fourth in the 100-meter backstroke — a new event for her. Coach Street added, “Stella is doing great this year, always willing to work on her flipturns and drills each day at practice.”

Hannah Pauli added the 50-meter freestyle to her state events and Mason Pauli qualified for state in the 25-meter backstroke.  Joselyn and Preslie Owen each swam in the first meet of their swimming career.
Kylynn Schwandt, Adison Pauli, Payton Pauli and Bennett Graham were the Sea Lions’ top time cutters. They knocked off  22-36 seconds apiece in their 200-meter freestyle times.
