MALST took 22 swimmers to compete in the Britton Invitational on Saturday, July 10th. They returned to Milbank with 27 first-place finishes. Coach Jodi Street said, “TyLynn Wellnitz broke three MALST records and was our top time cutter. She cut 57 seconds from her time in the 50-meter freestyle and 40 seconds in the 50-meter backstroke.”
Bailee Hendricks was named the Swimmer of the Meet in the 12 & Under division. Street said, “Bailee has been swimming very strong this season.” According to Coach Street, Bailee cut 22 seconds combined, tackled a new event –the 50-meter butterfly — and earned first and second places in all her events.
Hope Karels was chosen as the Swimmer of the Meet for the 13 & Over division. Coach Street said, ” Hope works very hard in practice, often coming in on off days or weekends to put in extra yards. Hope dropped time in all four of her events, including a huge cut of 15 seconds in her 100 backstroke.”
