Marlene Fuhrman, age 87, of Graceville, MN, passed away on July 26, 2021, at Grace Home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity-Mt. Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2 ½ miles north of Johnson, MN. Rev. Donald Main will officiate and burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Graceville. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday morning, one hour prior to the service.
Casket bearers will be Marlene’s sons: Jeff Fuhrman, Scott Fuhrman, Stephen Fuhrman, and Brent Fuhrman. Honorary bearers will be her eleven granddaughters: Leah Ophus, Amber Fuller, Kelsey Thiele, Alyssa Fuhrman, Megan Fuhrman, Kimberly Sigler, Kerrie Berg, Kayla Fuhrman, Tori Bartos, Devin Fuhrman, and Emma Fuhrman.
Marlene Ann (Kelting) Fuhrman was born on January 14, 1934, in Sioux City, IA, to Lawrence and Isabelle (Voils) Kelting. Marlene was baptized into the Lutheran faith on January 23, 1938, and confirmed on May 16, 1948, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City, IA. Marlene graduated from East High School, in Sioux City on June 4, 1952. She received her Associate Arts degree (AA) from Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato MN, in 1954. She received a call to Trinity Lutheran School, Johnson MN to teach grades 1-4.
Marlene married Allen Fuhrman on August 25, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnson. This union was blessed with four sons: Jeffrey Allen, Scott Craig, Stephen Paul, and Brent Jon. In addition to being a wife and mother, Marlene loved being in her kitchen cooking for family, farm help, and friends. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was involved in the LWMS, as well as, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She loved Saturdays when she was able to go to town to get her hair fixed and shop for groceries. In later years she became involved the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion to support our local troops. In addition to farming, Allen and Marlene ran Fuhrman Floral in Graceville for many years.
Marlene is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law: Jeff and Julie Fuhrman of Bemidji, MN; Scott and Carol Fuhrman of Fairmont, MN; Stephen Fuhrman and Jeanie Jones of Chandler, OK; Brent and Darcy Fuhrman of Morris, MN; 11 granddaughters; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law: Lawrence and Judy Kelting of Amarillo, TX; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Allen Walter Fuhrman; her parents: Lawrence and Isabelle Kelting; and many in-laws.
Marlene’s family suggests memorials be given to Trinity-Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Johnson, MN.
