Food Giveaway in Milbank on August 18

The Grant County Christian Service Council is coordinating with Feeding South Dakota once again to provide a Food Giveaway on Wednesday, August 18, in Milbank. The giveaway will be held in the parking lot of the Grant County 4-H Fairgrounds from 4-5 p.m.  Anyone who feels they are in need is welcome. There are no income requirements.

The giveaway will be a drive-thru event. The food will already be boxed and delivered by Feeding South Dakota. To pick up food for your family, enter the parking lot and await further driving directions. Open your trunk or back liftgate once you are in line. Volunteers will place the boxes in the vehicle. To save everyone time, it is important to have the space in your vehicle ready. There is a two-family limit per vehicle. If you are picking up a box for another family, when you get in line, you must provide your name and the name of the other family.  Brenda Maass, coordinator of the drive, says, “Feeding South Dakota now requires us to collect household information from each family. Recipients will be asked how many people in each family are ages 0-17, 18-59, and 60 and over. If you are unable to attend, please make arrangements for someone else to pick up your food. We are no longer able to make deliveries after the event.” 

“If you are in a position to donate funds to the Christian Service Council,” Maass says, “We always welcome your help.” The majority of GCCSC funding comes from donations at the local Thrift Store, but donations from churches, businesses, and individuals ensure the GCCSC can continue its mission to serve those in need.
