8th-Grade Volleyball Team Challenges Ortonville

Milbank’s eighth-grade volleyball team hosted Ortonville on Tuesday, September 7. Ortonville took the victory home, but Milbank gave them a run for their money.
Milbank got better as the night went on. They lost the first set at 11-25 and the second one at a close 23-25. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Trojans in the last set at 25-16.
Milbank’s coach, Becky Johnson said, “We really struggled with serving in the first set. It took the girls a while to get going and feel confident. Once they did, they played very well.”
Jacy Dexter led the team with 12 of 14 serving, including five aces. Macey Schafer followed with nine of 10 serving, including five aces. Kendra Roggenbuck went five of seven with two aces. Evy Liebe was four of seven, including two aces.
Kenadee Mueller and Kayle Figueroa were credited with one kill apiece. Mueller also marked two of three serving.
Liz Sperry contributed to the team’s effort with an ace and four of six serving. Kalli Grong also had an ace and was two of seven serving.
