William Karels Selected as September Student of the Month

William Karels, a senior at Milbank High School, has been chosen as the September Student of the Month. William is the son of Jason and Susan Karels.

William is involved in band, choir, cross country, track, theater, and student council. Outside of school, he participates in 4-H and is on the swim team. 
He has been a South Dakota State 4-H Ambassador (2018-2022), a member of the All-State Band (2019 to 2021), and a member of the All-State Choir (2018-2021). He also serves as a lifeguard and teaches swimming lessons at Unity Health and Fitness.

William says, “My favorite class is woodshop because, I enjoy the feeling of
finishing a project. And being able to translate a picture in my head to a physical object is an awesome skill.”

After graduation, William plans to attend St. Cloud State University to pursue a degree in technology education and construction management. His goal is to teach or work in the building trades.
