CC Teams Win Big at SFC Charger Invitational

The Bulldog cross country teams went the distance at the Sioux Falls Christian Charger Invitational on September 14. Sophomore Nick Batchelor earned an individual second place for the Milbank boys’ varsity team. The Bulldogs as a team brought home second. 

Eighth grader Ashlynn Batchelor won second place for the varsity girls. The Lady Bulldogs brought home fourth place.

Eric Townshend, head coach for the Bulldogs, said, “The Charger Invite 
 was a great opportunity to compete against most of the southern schools and the Sioux Falls area schools.  Many of these teams are some of the top teams and individuals in Class A.” Six of the top 11 runners in the boys’ 5K came from Sioux Falls Christian. 

Boys Varsity 5K Run Isaac Develaar from Sioux Falls Christian took first place at 15:57:16. Nick Batchelor, was second at 16:13:86; and Daniel Colby, from Sioux Falls Christian took third at 17:04:34. 

Bulldog Payton Brown was 14th at 18:01:32; James Batchelor, 15th at 18:02:69; Isaac Graham, 27th at 18:43:24; Bryan Meyer, 58th at 20:06:72; Jack Sandvig, 61st at 20:32:97; and Grant Van Peursum 72nd, at 21:20:18.

Sioux Falls Christian captured first place as a team with 13 points, Milbank was second at 45, and Sioux Falls Lincoln took third with 69. Dakota Valley, Madison, Lennox, Tea Area, and West Central all followed in order. Vermillion brought up the rear in ninth place with 152 points. 

Girls Varsity 5K Run For the Lady Bulldogs, Ashlynn Batchelor came in at second place at 19:22:96. Leah Meyer took 18th place at 21:46:05; Maurina Street, 21st at 21:53:11; Kynlee Spiedel, 37th at 23:15:49; Ellie Neugebauer, 45th at 23:27:98; Tyra Berry, 47th at 23:37:32; Maiah Brown, 50th at 24:01:58; and Ashlynn O’Farrell, 53rd at 24:22:04.

Sioux Falls Christian took the top team honors, followed in order by Vermillion, Lennox, Milbank, Sioux Falls Lincoln, Tea Area, West Central, Canton, Beresford, Madison, Deubrook Area, and Dakota Valley.
