Bulldog Jonathan DeBoer won the Tiospa Zina Golf Invitational on Thursday, September 16. DeBoer carded an 80 — two strokes under Roncalli’s Mason Carrels.
Riley Steen of Sisseton came in third with an 84, Kyler Bezdicheck of Sioux Valley shot an 85, and Tiospa Zina’s Caelb Barse took fifth also at 85.
Jesse Hernandez of Roncalli was sixth at 87. Kyan Overbo of Sioux Valley also carded an 87 to take seventh place.
For the Bulldogs, Charlie Peery shot a 99; Owen Fischer, 106; Gregory Grabow Grabow, 110; and Joshua Keeton and Justus Osborn each carded 119.
As a team, Milbank brought home third place with a total of 395. Roncalli won top honors at 347 and Sioux Valley went home in second with 352. Sisseton was fourth at 435 and Flandreau tallied 438 for fifth place.
Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs traveled to the Redfield Invitational at Fisher Grove Country Club. Jonathan DoBoer was also the top golfer for Milbank. He took 10th place by shooting an 89. The winner of the meet was Mason Carrels of Roncalli, who carded a 76.
Justus Osborn of Milbank took 13th place with a 94; Owen Fischer 15th at 94; Joshua Keeton 23rd with a 106; Charlie Peery 26th at 111; and Gregory Grabow shot a 119 for the 29th spot.
MHS Coach Mark Keeton says, “The boys have become more consistent golfers as the year has gone on. Their decision-making and course management have really improved. We have a busy week ahead of us with two meets and Regions just around the corner. Now is the time to really focus.”
