The Lady Bulldogs played their last home tennis match of the season on Tuesday, September 21. Milbank hosted a triangular with Aberdeen Central and Aberdeen Roncalli as their guests.

Coach Abby Trapp said, “The girls fell short to both teams — Central at 1-9 and Roncalli at 4-5. There were incredibly long rallies and great points played, and though the scores don’t show it, the girls fought hard in both matches.  We got close to pulling off a win, but were edged out by Roncalli by just one match.”

Hattie Muellenbach, Hope Karels, and Marion Mischel all won their singles matches and Karels and Mischel also scored a win in doubles.

Milbank 4 vs. Aberdeen Roncalli 5 Singles: Hattie Muellenbach defeated Hallie Haskell — 8-6 Alexis Ninneman was defeated by Maria Barnett — 4-8 Hope Karels defeated River Haskell — 8-6 Marion Mischel defeated  Katey Haskell — 8-4 Elsie Seffrood was defeated by Katherine Kratchman — 0-8
Amelia Pederson was defeated by Anna Mitzel — 6-8

Doubles: Muellenbach/Ninneman were defeated by H. Haskell/Barnett — 6-8 Karels/Mischel got the win against R. Haskell/K. Haskell — 9-8 (7-4) Seffrood/Pederson were defeated by Kratchman/Mitzel — 4-8

Doubles: Muellenbach/Ninneman were defeated by Knie/Vogel — 2-8 Karels/Mischel were defeated by Comstock/Douglas — 0-8 Seffrood/Pederson were defeated by Gonsor/Charlee Galvin — 1-8In exhibition play, Ashlynn Lamp and Jenna Korstjens played O’Keefe/Roet. 

Coach Trapp added, “Could not have asked for a better way to end our home matches for the season. We also recognized our three seniors with a gift to commemorate their last home match.”
Next up for the the Lady Bulldogs? Milbank travels to Benson, Minnesota on Thursday, September 30.  The match starts at 1 p.m.
