The Bulldogs’ cross country teams attended the Milaca Mega Meet on Saturday, September 25.. With a field of 26 mostly high-ranking Minnesota teams and nearly 200 runners, Nick Batchelor broke the course record for the boys for this division with a time of 16:01.5. He shot into first place and helped Milbank take fourth place as a team.

N. Batchelor’s closest competitors were Noah Foster from Cromwell-Wright, who came in at 16:32:0 for second place, and Reese Anderson of Lake City, who followed at 16:40:1 for third place.

James Batchelor was the second-highest place winner for the Bulldogs. He came in at 17:44:7 to earn 25th place. Payton Brown took 29th place at 17:50.2. Issaac Graham was 57th at 19:01:8; Bryan Meyer, 70th at 19:18.7; Jack Sandvig, 112th at 20:18:7; and Grant Van Peursem, 142nd at 21:20:7.
Milbank was awarded fourth place as a team with a score of 164. First place went to Parnassus with 92 points. Heritage Christian took second at 104 and West Central Area was third also with a 104.
For perspective, you can see how well the Bulldogs performed when you consider the 26th-place team piled up 744 points and the last-place individual runner came in with a time of 32.42.0.

MHS Coach Eric Townshend said, “This is one of the largest high school meets in the nation. It was the first time we had attended this meet and it was huge.  There were nearly 20 different races with each race featuring over 100 runners.”
