Lady Bulldogs Run Out of Steam Against Deubrook

The Lady Bulldogs varsity volleyball team was defeated by Deubrook on October 5.Set scores were 25-21, 13-25, 19-25, 25-22, and 3-15.
Coach Nancy Hoeke said, “We started out strong and had a good game plan that was working. Deubrook made adjustments and played a much better second set, but I didn’t feel like we responded. We seemed to be satisfied that the first set was good enough. The third and fourth sets were competitive again and enjoyable to play as we were doing good things. By the fifth set we ran out of gas.”
The Lady Bulldogs serving hit 95 percent. They were 81 of 85 with seven aces.Individually, the serving look like this:
Rachel Schulte — 19-19 with one ace
Skyler Skoog — 7-7
Rylie Overby — 3-3
Tatum Berry — 1-1
Averie Engebretson — 19-20 with four aces
Addisyn Krause — 14-15 with one aceCasside Seezs — 10-11
Hallie Schulte — 8-9
Rachel Schulte also led the pack in kills. She was 65-71 with 13 kills. Also leading the attack for Milbank were:Skyler Skoog — 36-47 with 11 kills
Casside Seezs — 20-25 with six kills
Claire Snaza — 7-7 with three kills
Averie Engebretson — 22-24 with three kills
Rylie Overby — 16-21 with two kills
In seting, Addisyn Krause was tops at 84-85 with 18 assists, and Averie Engebretson was next at 72-73 with 15 assists.
Hallie Schulte contributed 41 digs, Addisyn Krause, 23; Rachel Schulte, 11; Skyler Skoog, 9; Averie Engebretson, 8; Emily Wollschlager, 8.
Rachel Schulte and Casside Seezs had three assisted blocks apiece and Skyler Skoog and Rylie Overby each had one.
Coach Hoeke concluded, “Overall, we had moments when we played very good volleyball. It’s fun volleyball when we can execute the things we work on at practice. The team is coming along and has certainly improved.”
