On Friday, October 8, the Milbank Middle School combined 7-8th grade band competed in the Lake Region Marching Band Festival in Groton. Milbank Middle School earned the first-place award. Aberdeen Simmons-Holgate received second place.
On Saturday, October 2, the MHS band competed in the 2021 Festival of Bands in Sioux Falls. Milbank was awarded fourth place in the AA division and eighth overall. Sioux Falls Christian took first place in the AA division. The field was comprised of 18 bands from the A, AA, AAA, and AAAA divisions. Both bands also marched at the MHS Homecoming Parade on September 24.
The 30 senior marching band members and their parents were recognized at the annual Band-Senior Night on October 15. The event also included participation by the Milbank Middle School sixth-graders
According to Susan Karels, Milbank School District’s 6-12 band instructor, the MHS and Milbank Middle School bands completed their marching seasons last weekend.
