The Lady Bulldogs varsity volleyball team defeated Waverly-South Shore 3-0 during Senior Night on Tuesday, October 19. Set scores were 25-15, 25-10, and 25-7.
Tatum Berry, the lone senior on the team, was honored along with her parents. Nancy Hoeke, head coach for Milbank, commended Tatum for stepping up and playing all around in the first set. “We appreciate her leadership throughout the season.”
The Lady Bulldogs’ serving hit 92 percent against the Lady Coyotes. They had 14 aces and were 67-73. “We showed a lot of strength in our serving and attacking that was overpowering for Waverly-South Shore,” Coach Hoeke said.
In serving, Emily Wollschlager led the way. She was 7-7 with one ace. Averie Engebretson was 4-4; Camryn Wiese 3-3; Skyler Skoog and Shaylee Schuchard 2-2 each; Casside Seezs 24-25 with five aces; Addisyn Krause, 15-17 with six aces; Rachel Schulte 5-6 with one ace; Berry 3-4 with one ace; and Hallie Schulte 2-3.
On the attack, R. Schulte was tops at 19-20 with 12 kills. Rylie Overby was 10-12 with seven kills; Engebretson 9-9 with five kills; Seezs 14-19 with five kills; Skoog 3-4 with two kills; and Claire Snaza 4-4 with one kill.
Krause led in assists at 39-39 with 14 assists and Engebretson was next at 14-14 with eight assists.
Wiese recorded the most digs. She had six. Krause and H. Schulte made five apiece, and Berry had four.
Next up for the Lady Bulldogs? There’s no school on Monday, October 25, but the volleyball teams host the Tiospa Zina Wambdi at Milbank Elementary. JV starts at 6 p.m. and Varsity at 7:15 p.m.
Tuesday, October 26, is Pink Night! The Lady Bulldogs host the Lady Cavaliers of Roncalli at Milbank Elementary. The C Team starts the ball rolling at 5:15 p.m. JV follows at 6:15 p.m. Varsity takes the court at 7:30 p.m.
