Family Tree Branch Out, a free genealogy workshop, starts Wednesday, November 3, at the Grant County Library. The three-part workshop continues on November 10 and November 17. Each part runs from 1-3 p.m. in the library’s community room. Attend one or all three.
Tammy Wollschlager, assisted by Rhonda Stengel, will lead the workshop. Both have a passion for family history and many years of experience in genealogical research. The hands-on workshop will focus on a variety of resources found in the Grant County Public Library and online and will also branch out to online resources available from the South Dakota State Library and South Dakota Archives, including access to ancestry.com’s library edition. Ancestry.com’s library edition provides both state and federal resources such as census reports and vital, military, and immigration records.
The Grant County Library also announced the upcoming launch of a new website dedicated to the preservation of local history. Those attending the Family Tree Branch Out will be shown the new Digital Archives of the Grant County Public Library website and instructed on how to navigate it for the best results.
Sign up now to be a part of the Family Tree Branch Out workshop. Register for one or all three segments. Call the library at 605.432.6543. The Grant County Library is located at 207 East Park Avenue in Milbank.
