Ronald H. Beling, age 85, of Ortonville, MN, died on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Fairway View Senior Community in Ortonville.

A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Rev. Denise Fossen will officiate the service and burial will take place at Graceville Consolidated Cemetery in Graceville, MN.

Ronald Herbert Beling was born on August 28, 1936, in Miles City, MT, to Herbert R. and Arlene G. (Rydell) Beling.  As a boy, he sold newspapers, worked in movie theaters, and was a delivery boy for the local drug store. Ron attended school in Miles City and graduated from Custer County High School.

For a large portion of his career, Ron worked for Woolworth’s or PAMIDA, managing stores and moving from Salt Lake City, Kansas City, Durango, CO, and eventually to Ortonville, MN. He also volunteered for the Prairie Five Rides Program. He was a member of the Naval Reserve from 1955-1963.

Ron was a member of the Ortonville Moose Lodge and the Big Stone American, Legion Gertje-Van Lith Post #229. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge #507 of Durango, CO.

In 1986, Ron married Mary (Michalscheck), the love of his life. The two were united in marriage until Mary’s passing in 2015. In recent years, Ron has given back to the community he so loved through his gifts of flagpoles and monuments in memory of his wife, Mary.

He is survived by his daughter, Allison Friedly, of Ortonville, MN; granddaughter, Cora Mallory, of Ortonville, MN; brother, Loren (Carol) Beling of Big Timber, MT; sister-in-law Kathy Beling of Missoula, MT; nephews: Wes and Greg Beling of Big Timber, MT; niece, Laura (Brian) Elliott of Missoula, MT; many cousins and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents: Herb and Arlene Beling, brother, John Beling; and beloved wife, Mary.
